All original text, article structure, photography direction, design documents, specification templates and site design published at bumfuzzledjane.com are the property of Halloway Design Consulting LLC, trading as Bumfuzzled Jane, and are protected under United States copyright law and international treaties.

Some photography on this site is licensed stock imagery used under the terms of its license. Those images remain the property of their respective photographers and licensors, and the license does not transfer to you by virtue of appearing here.

What you may do without asking

• Quote up to roughly two paragraphs of an article, with clear attribution and a working link back to the original page.
• Link to any page here, including deep links to specific articles.
• Share pages on social media using the normal share mechanisms.
• Print a page for your own private, non-commercial use while planning your own home.

What requires written permission

• Republishing a whole article, or a substantial portion of one, anywhere.
• Translating an article into another language.
• Using our text or images in commercial material, including client proposals, listings, pitch decks or advertising.
• Using this content to train a commercial machine-learning model.
• Framing the site, or reproducing it in a way that suggests affiliation or endorsement.

Permission requests are usually granted for reasonable non-commercial use. Write to hello@bumsfuzzledjane.com with what you want to use and where it will appear.

Client work and project photography

Project images are published with the homeowner's permission. They are not available for reuse, and they may not be reproduced in listings or marketing by contractors, agents or suppliers who worked on the project. Deliverables we produce for clients are governed by the license set out in our Terms of Service.

Reporting an infringement to us

If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, send a written notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)) to our designated agent. Your notice must include all of the following, or we may not be able to act on it:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or a person authorized to act for them.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
3. The exact URL on bumfuzzledjane.com of the material you want removed, specific enough for us to locate it.
4. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

We acknowledge valid notices within five business days and remove or disable access to genuinely infringing material promptly. Please note that under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages and costs.

Counter-notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice containing your signature, identification of the removed material and its previous location, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification, your name, address and telephone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.

If someone has copied our work

We monitor for wholesale republication of the journal. Where we find it, we usually start with a polite email, because most of the time it is a well-meaning mistake. Where that does not work we file with the host, the search engine and the advertising network in that order.

Repeat infringers

In line with the DMCA safe-harbor requirements, we terminate access for repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. Nothing on this page is legal advice, and nothing in it waives any right or remedy available to us.
